Truth BBQ

Truth BBQ
The original Truth BBQ took over an old barbecue joint on the highway between Houston and Austin and quickly became a destination; the Houston location opened in 2019 and is a must-visit for classic CTX 'Q.

The original location in Brenham had been a couple of old-school joints over the years – eccentric places but forgettable barbecue. So when Leonard Botello IV took it over and hung out the Truth BBQ shingle, serving world-class CTX-style barbecue from day one, barbecue fans speeding to-and-from Houston and Austin rejoiced.

The Houston location appeared several years later (the Brenham location is still open) with a long gestation period that only ramped up the barbecue fan frenzy. The big 1000-gallon offset barrel pits were a doozy to install, but once complete, the high-traffic location and Botello’s exquisite barbecue made this one of the best and busiest barbecue joints in Houston when the doors opened.
