Daddy Duncan’s BBQ

Randy & Sylvia Duncan started out with a small trailer and a dream, eventually making Daddy Duncan's (named after Randy's grandfather) into one of the area's busiest barbecue trucks.

Food trucks and trailers are both a blessing and a curse for would-be barbecue entrepreneurs. On the one hand, they offer a relatively economical way to break into the commercial barbecue business, but on the other hand they are notoriously difficult to maintain and keep running on a regular basis. Just finding a place to post-up on a regular basis can be a challenge.

The Duncan’s, however, have embraced the barbecue truck lifestyle with total commitment, partnering with a local winery in Katy to offer a permanent location for their many followers and loyal customers to easily find them. A brick-and-mortar location is still in the works. They offer a combination of classic and creative dishes combining the best of both CTX and ETX-styles of barbecue. They’ve also made a name for themselves with multiple partnerships with Katy-area restaurants by providing their barbecue for inclusion with menu items like lasagna and ramen.

Known for: Their version of meat "plates" are "boxes" that provide all the meats, sides and trimmings for a family meal - The "Katy Box" is a classic trinity of brisket, ribs and sausage. The "Soul Food Box" includes classic smoked oxtails.
Pro-tip: On weekend evenings, there are plenty of outdoor seats to take advantage of both the barbecue and the wine offerings.
